Home Page: THE CULPRITS DC/Fuzzy Squirrel Nuts, Poorly Packaged Products, and more!

This Site was created by the singer of the band The Culprits DC (also operated as FUZZY SQUIRREL NUTS). We aren't geeks, if you don't like the site, get lost. This site was initially just to disseminate (big words for a punk, huh?) info on the band but since Acmecity left us in a lurch on several pages, we took this one & most of our other websites which can now likely be found on 1 of these custom pages you can click to on the left hand side.

The Culprits DC (also operated as FUZZY SQUIRREL NUTS) were/are a Washington DC based streetpunk/noise band formed out of the wreckage of a few DC area bands. The whole purpose of the band was to stand in defiance to the apathy of the rest of the scene in regards to straight forward skinhead rock n roll and anything resembling punk. If bands like 4Skins, Cockney Rejects (pick up the Greatest Hits Vol 4 -not the live SHARP Lp either-), SHAM69 (hell, even Outside the Warehouse), US Chaos, The Madhatters, Angelic Upstarts (great band up til 1987 or so, fuck their recent communist propagandizing bullshit & bullying tactics on bands like Section5) or Discharge (yes, even Grave New World era) get your blood rushing, then you need to take a closer look at our band.
The band started out as a no nonsense high energy punk rock outfit in the spring of 2000. One listen to our cut on the FULL FORCE ATTAK compilation will show we were really right up there in doling out the aural punishment at the time. Alcohol, laziness, work schedules, lack ofcars and more brought the project to a halt at the end of the summer of 2000...the band came back in a altered form for the summer of 2001 & like most bands, NO ONE GAVE A SHIT & NO ONE GAVE A SHIT WHO WAS IN IT! LEAST OF ALL THE MEMBERS THEMSELVES. SUFFICE TO SAY...THE BAND HAS GONE BACK INTO HIBERNATION (well sort of, read on!).

Here's some lyrics to tie you over til we do something else...

I'M DISGUSTED (words: Sean 1995 or so)
I'll never come to grips with the anger in my head
I'll never forget the humiliation i endured
If i catch you on my turf, I'll do more than call you names
There will be sticks & stones in my games
verse: I'm disgusted
I'm back & i'm pissed & i wanna see you dead,
i wanna break your nose on your pretty little head,
think you're so smart on the internet,
let's catch up in person, i'll be your ass you bet

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. YOU WANNA BORROW FROM US, ASK FIRST. THIS AINT NO ROCKSTAR B.S. BUT THEN AGAIN, WE AINT DOING THIS FOR SOME PUNK TO COME ALONG & RIP IT OFF!

THE STORY OF THE CULPRITS DC.

First off, the band is now on hiatus currently.

Five summers ago (2000), the internationally beloved Seanster put together the first line-up with a handful of material that was never fully cemented properly. A lack of common sense allowed the band to plug along for a few months with no common goal. Members came and went, some recordings got done - which ended up on 2 different compilations.

We debuted (if you wanna call it that) on August 7th, 2000 @ the Velvet Lounge in DC with The Screwz. The show was pretty fucking weak as all the band members bailed b4 the show, leaving mastermind Sean to recruit session guitarist AIDZ (who returned to the band in 2001) & engineer Steve of Left to Right Sound filling in on drums at the very last minute. Suffice to say, as stated, it sucked more than even we expected, exacerbated by a shit job on the sound reinforcement end. Nonethess, the show went on. Sean played bass on everything except the GG ALLIN cover which our good friend John Acosta learned that nite. Only Chameleon by Herbie Hancock was somewhat respectable!

The band lay dormant then in May, 2001, Sean resurrected the idea of Culprits dc doing it again which ultimately led to teaming up with former member AIDZ. First playing a mini-set of Ramones covers @ the Otto Bar on May 19th in a band (1 show only) called GABBA GABBA HEY MK III then the Culprits DC "reunited" playing several shows in the Summer of 2001 with 2 different line ups. In year 2001, our concert calendar went like this...

...July 4 @ Verona's Bistro on Rte 234 in Manassas VA with Krass Judgement, Last Sunrise, Obsolete, 20 Oz Nothing, No End, Flinch, Johnny Butcher, Troma Style & the Sadistics. We came, we saw, we played some covers. Then we lit off fire works.

We did more of the same on July 18th @ Verona swapping out the failed BIG WOMEN for the equally poorly performed PUBLIC DEFENDER with a paired down line-up still featuring the amazing AIDZ alsthewhile opening for 2 NJ bands: Outline & Random Task PLUS Last Sunrise was gonna play but someone blew a fuse about having to leave IMMEDIATELY after the show...that's how shit goes...sorry guys.

Our final show for 2001 was July 27th @ Verona in Manassas once again opening for GAVIN BLACK from Grand Rapids (members formed a new band REN THE DIRECTOR in 2003) & Krass Judgement (No VA thrash metal).

What does the future hold for the actual THE CULPRITS DC or FUZZY SQUIRREL NUTS, we'll see! Maybe something. Who knows?

Anyone want a link to our site, just clue me in, these numb nutz at freeservers give us about 5 OFFICIAL spots for links, but we figured out code so we can link to other sites without their help!
Just hook me up via email to the info on your site and next time we are geeking, we'll make updates to connect the youth to your critical URL information.

...So what is all this nonsense about a new version of the band?

Be aware...Sean is at the helm of the reformulated THE SUSPECTS (yes, the 90s DC band). That does not mean the Culprits/Fuzzy Squirrel Nuts will not rear their head again, in fact, reunion recordings are being discussed w/some ex-members currently. Either way, you will see Sean gigging out quite a bit in another band w/other musicians & a vastly different set. On August 27, 2001, we (The Suspects dc) gigged with KickFlip & The Last Sunrise in a house in Fredericksburg. On Nov 29th, 2001 we played with GRAVES featuring guys who played with the Misfits during the GEFFEN Years. 2002 saw 3 of the former members play on bills w/25 ta Life, Clit45, Defiance, A Global Threat & many more in towns from Fairmont WV to Providence, RI as well as release a CD reprising the classic GUINNESS SUCKS with new words (retitled OUR BAND RULES). 9 shows were completed in 5 european countries w/Portugal's Mata-Ratos in November 2002 & the band crossed the atlantic again in 2003 hitting the UK touring behind "Courtesy Flush Vol. 1". 2006 is bringing a new studio session featuring a cut Sean initially used in the Culprits dc called KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT BUDDY, a ode to "skins" who abandoned the scene 20 years ago & want back in.

We (old Culprits dc singer) can be reached on AIM under THESUSPECTSDC & ICQ @ <26474399> if you have questions about showdates, etc. that arent answered by visiting THESUSPECTS dot com.

Where are they now...

DISCOGRAPHY?

Our band appears on two comps...1) a compilation outta New England with Pug Uglies, Battalion86 & Youthful Offenders + that comes with a zine called Full Force Attak. Most of our stuff in the future will appear under the name FUZZY SQUIRREL NUTS and this upcoming zine/comp is no exception. 2) on CROOK RECORDS' GG ALLIN TRIBUTE doing our rendition of Drink Fight Fuck alongside bands from Australia, Sweden & of course, good old america, as The Culprits DC. When we first started, No one could agree on a band name, go figure. VERY SMALL Records 30 second song compilation was cancelled, as was a CD w/a label in Chicago.
